Magazine Announces Top 10 Hospitals
and Top 5 Specialty Facilities for Innovation
Providence, R.I. – Health Imaging & IT
magazine today announced its annual Top 10 Hospitals and Top 5
Specialty Facilities for innovation in digital image and information
management.
The Top 10 – which debuts in the October issue of Health Imaging &
IT – includes some of the largest, most prestigious healthcare
institutions in the United States, as well as smaller specialty
facilities, which also have exemplified a dedication to implementing
IT to maximize patient care.
“This year’s winners of the Health Imaging & IT Top 10 Hospitals
and Top 5 Specialty Facilities bring to the forefront some of the
facilities that are taking the lead in using information
technology for the benefit of their patients,” said Jack Spears,
publisher of Health Imaging & IT. “We want to congratulate each
facility for their accomplishments, and commend them on their
excellence in implementing their digital strategies in advancing
healthcare in a most positive way.”
The nominations for this year’s survey came from a database of
more than 10,000 healthcare business and clinical professionals,
including radiologists, cardiologists, PACS administrators, CIOs,
technologists, vendors and industry consultants. Their submissions
formed the basis for the survey, which will be conducted annually.
A team from Health Imaging & IT then analyzed surveys completed by
each facility, based on criteria, such as: the percentage of
radiology and cardiology imaging cases that are digital; number of
physicians with online access to digital images; percentage of an
imaging department’s operating budget and capital budget used for
IT and peripherals; and the number of employees dedicated to IT
functions. The winners were culled from hundreds of hospital
nominees.
Due to the strength of the polling
results, Health Imaging & IT expanded the awards to also include the Top
5 Specialty Facilities. These facilities are composed of specialty
healthcare facilities and imaging centers that display visionary and
leadership approaches to implementing digital imaging strategies.
